(Be sure to scroll down past the photos for the full description of this auction)

Up for auction with NO RESERVE is a Museum quality Victorian Sterling Silver Wine Jug or Claret Pitcher. The Pitcher is hallmarked to the body for Sterling Silver as well as the fine Period Silversmith Henry Wilkinson & Co.  The Pitcher is also fully Hallmarked inside the Lid with matching Hallmarks as well here you can clearly read the Date Letter for 1838. The Pitcher features the finest and most beautiful Hand Chased Repousse designs plus fully cast Encruster Flowers unlike any I have ever seen. The Repousse Acanthus Leaves, the S Scroll Handle and the Grape Cluster Figural Finial all show incredible detail and are far nicer than my photos show. The Claret Jug is in fine original condition throughout with no dents, cracks or holes. The Handle is also perfectly solid with absolutely no movement, and the lid has a strong quality hinge which also has no side movement. The Pitcher is much more impressive in real life than I can photo, and is an impressive large size example measuring approx 13" tall, by 6" long, and 4" inches wide across the base. The Pitcher is Thick Sterling Silver throughout with a quality weight of 719 grams. The Pitcher holds right around 4-1/2 cups of liquid, easily holding a full 1000ml bottle of wine, or other desired beverages. The Pitcher has never been monogramed. The Pitcher is the finest example of a Victorian Sterling Wine Pitcher I am believe you will find being auctioned without reserve. It is also still very practical for actual use, and is a very fine future investment piece as well I am sure, as early Victorian Silver of this incredible quality is becoming more and more Rare to find.
