Lowell Davis has been referred to as the "Norman Rockwell of Rural Art", and his paintings and figurines truly reflect this style.
Lowell did not think anyone would be interested in his type of art; the simple life of times past. The majority of people are located in large cities and he felt that they would not want things depicting rural life in America. But he was wrong! These people thrived on his art; they bought them to view a segment of life that they either don't see in the big city, or grew up with before leaving that way of life. It showed them something they had never seen, or it brought out memories of their youth.
This figurine from 1993 is entitled IGNORANCE IS BLISS and is the 15th anniversary issue of one of Davis’s first 10 figurines. It is marked with 15 in a box, and also has the number 1062 on the side of the log. It shows a cocky rooster perched on an axe stuck in a chopping log. It is numbered 225-031 and the anniversary issue is numbered 96843, from Lowell Davis’ RFD America collection series. This figurine does have a label on bottom. No box. I believe the material is poured, molded porcelain and was hand crafted and hand painted in Scotland. I am offering additional figurines, and I will very carefully package and ship these figurines, combining shipping costs on multiple purchases.
