HISTORY/MARKS:   Paragon China has its roots in the Star China Company of Longton, Staffordshire in England.  In 1899, the son of the John Anysley II (of Anysley China), Herbert James, along with several associates formed Star China Company.   To emphasize their high quality, Star China introduced the name Paragon China in 1903 and later changed the company name to Paragon China Company in 1920.  In 1927, Hugh Irving became sole proprietor upon the retirement of Herbert Aynsley, his father-in-law.  Paragon was granted several Warrants of Appointment by the Royal Family in the 1933-1958 time period.  Thomas C. Wild & Sons (Royal Albert) took over Paragon China in 1960, then merged with the Lawley Group to become Allied English Potteries in 1964, subsequently Paragon and Royal Albert joined the Royal Doulton Group in 1972, and finally the Paragon name discontinued in 1992.  The mark on both is identified as used in the 1966-1992 time period.
